The Niagara Falls Music & Art Festival is pleased to announce the winner of it’s Commitment to the Arts award for 2013 is Marcus Wise. Marcus has been involved with the festival since it started on Main Street in Niagara Falls in the summer of 2011. He has brought to the festival a professional level of art and artists that is so essential to the positive growth of our healthy arts scene in Niagara Falls.

Marcus L. Wise is an arts supporter, advocate, and artist. He is the owner of art gallery and retail space, 464 Gallery, which since 2009 has catered to more than 500 local and emerging artists in Buffalo, NY. Wise also curates art shows off-site at local law firms, other art galleries and in pop-up gallery settings.

In 2010, Wise was given the Cultural Ambassador Award by the Grant Amherst Business Association, and his gallery; 464 Gallery, was awarded Best Under the Radar Art Space in Artvoice’s 2010 Best of Buffalo, then Best Up-And-Coming Art Space in 2011 and again in 2012.

Wise, not just an arts supporter and enthusiast, is also an artist himself with a focus on fine art photography. His vision offers unique perspectives that shift the viewer’s perspective on the plain into the exceptional, the commonplace into the abstract. He has photographed in over 35 cities in as many states and throughout five countries. Wise has exhibited his award-winning photography in numerous juried shows, art fairs, festivals, and galleries throughout the WNY region, NYC, and Pittsburgh.

Wise, a native of Hamburg, NY and University at Buffalo graduate, currently serves as President to the Emerging Leaders in the Arts. Wise is also the creator and moderator of WNY online arts resource, and is the Editor and Publisher of local arts magazine, Spark.

The Commitment to the Arts Award will be presented to Marcus on our Main Stage on Saturday June 29th by Mayor Paul Dyster preceding our award ceremony to this year’s participants.
